If you’re living in Pakistan, belong to the middle class (which means a some what limited budget!) and are planning to buy another family car, you should seriously be thinking along the lines of a second hand, used car. You may be buying a second car for your spouse or a child who’s just obtained a driving license. Whatever the reason, as outlined below, you’ll find that adding a used car to your ‘fleet’ of cars has several benefits.

The first and most important benefit of buying a used car is value for money within your budget. In tough economic times its wise to be tight fisted and spend wisely with enough in the bank for a rainy day. With a little probing and digging you’ll always find a car within your budget and one that runs well. If you’re not an expert on cars take someone along with you to have the car thoroughly examined and be quick. Remember there are others looking and great deals can attract a lot of attention.

The other benefit of buying second hand cars, especially if it’s for your teenage child, is the value of the car doesn’t depreciate as fast as it would with a new car. With the demand of used cars increasing and harder economic conditions your value won’t go down (in percentage and absolute terms) as dramatically. You also pay less for insurance.

So how do you find a great used car for sale in Pakistan? Are you looking for a Toyota, Honda or Suzuki? Fortunately the newspaper classifieds are filled with them. If you’re an internet user you can search for hundreds of daily postings on second hand cars through online classifieds. The benefit of going with the online option is that you get to search for your kind of car more easily than with the print media. You can search for a particular manufacturer, model, year of manufacture and most importantly cars within your price range. And most sites have photographs as well so you have a fair idea of the kind of car you’re buying. In fact, you can even post an ad for the type of car you’re looking for and someone will contact you.

So with a little patience, research and a few clicks you not only save money but you get to buy a great car. Don’t fall into the trap of buying a brand new car to keep up appearances. You’re much better off with the extra cash!
